Brazil Tops FIFA Rankings for Women’s Futsal Teams Following 2025 World Cup Victory
Brazil’s national team has solidified its top position in the FIFA world rankings for women’s futsal teams after winning the FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup in the Philippines 2025™, held from November 21 to December 7.
The Seleção won all six of its matches during the tournament, scoring 32 goals and conceding only 4, which earned them an additional 88.6 points in the rankings—over 100 points ahead of second-placed Spain, which secured the bronze medal. Portugal retained third place after reaching the final, while Argentina climbed to fourth and Italy moved to fifth after reaching the knockout stage.
This tournament was a culmination of the significant investments FIFA has made in futsal since 2016, totaling over 100 million USD under the FIFA Forward program, which supports the hosting of competitions. The Philippine Football Federation received 14 million USD from these investments.
The latest rankings expanded to include 91 teams, up from 69 in the first edition in 2024. Furthermore, 2025 saw a record number of international matches for women’s teams, totaling 286, 80 of which took place after the most recent rankings were released in August.
Several teams made notable advancements: Tanzania climbed eight places to 74th following a group-stage win, Argentina rose seven spots, and Morocco reached 24th after advancing to the quarterfinals. For the first time, Vietnam (20th) and Poland (19th) entered the top twenty, while Ukraine and Kazakhstan swapped positions between eighth and ninth.
In the men’s rankings, Hungary led the way with a gain of 44.9 points, moving up six places to 32nd. Pakistan and Bangladesh entered the rankings for the first time after participating in the 2026 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers, marking a historic presence in futsal.
These results reinforce the continued growth and global presence of futsal, enhancing the competitiveness of national teams and encouraging investment in the sport for both men and women.
