Akhannouch Concludes the “Achievements Path” Forum in Tangier: A Comprehensive Evaluation of Government Progress and a Clear Vision for the Future of Morocco

On Saturday, December 20, Aziz Akhannouch, President of the National Rally of Independents, concluded the “Achievements Path” forum in Tangier, marking the twelfth stop of this national program aimed at evaluating the performance of the government and the party over the past years and directly listening to citizens’ concerns.

In his speech at the event, Akhannouch emphasized that this forum represents a final milestone in a long journey of communication and listening to the public, noting that the party has visited all regions of the kingdom since 2013 and listened to over 100,000 citizens to build what he described as a “path of trust.” He added, “We visited 100 cities, met with 35,000 citizens, who presented their proposals and ideas, and from this, we formulated our electoral program for 2021.”

The party leader continued that after four years of government work, the Achievements Path forum aimed to discuss what has been accomplished and what remains to be done, stressing that the royal directives served as a clear roadmap that the government relied upon in its various decisions, despite the difficult circumstances Morocco faced, such as drought, the Al-Haouz earthquake, and rising inflation. He remarked, “We made bold and difficult decisions, we stood firm in the face of crises, and the welfare state remained our top priority, safeguarding the resilience of the national economy.”

Akhannouch stated that the results of government policies are beginning to show in positive indicators, highlighting improvements in growth rates, a decrease in deficits and debts, and a flourishing economic dynamic across all regions, alongside the continuation of social support programs. He added, “Economic growth is a means to provide better services to citizens. A strong economy means a strong welfare state.”

He asserted that the government has proven its competence despite doubts and challenges, adding, “In Parliament, some said it was impossible for us to accomplish what we planned, and today our answer is clear: we have delivered on our promises and secured the necessary resources to implement the government program seriously and responsibly.”

Akhannouch stressed that the work of the majority was based on the principles of solidarity and the public interest, stating, “We were able to restore the concept of the majority, and we worked as a unified team, which is the reason for our success.” He also emphasized that the relationship with laws relies on responsibility and accountability, and that citizen trust necessitates continuous communication with them to understand their concerns and issues.

He pointed out that the Achievements Path is not merely an evaluation of accomplishments, but an opportunity to benefit from criticism, noting that more than 15,000 citizens shared their thoughts and concerns through the “Listen” platform, while about 800 citizens participated in 80 consultative meetings across various regions, and approximately 3,700 individuals attended 44 meetings, which included 77 urban and rural communities, bringing the total participants to around 38,000.

Akhannouch acknowledged that challenges remain, particularly in improving public services in sectors like health and education, creating job opportunities, and protecting citizens’ purchasing power, confirming that “today, citizens notice the change in their daily lives.”

He concluded his remarks by announcing the release of a collective book entitled “Achievements Path,” which outlines all the party’s and government’s achievements, and will be distributed to participants in the meetings, inviting them to participate in enhancing development and transformations in the kingdom. He indicated that the next phase will mark the beginning of the Path to the Future, focusing on listening to professionals and building public policies that respond to the aspirations of Morocco and its citizens.
