A new judicial memorandum to enhance digital cooperation between Morocco and Spain is set to be signed soon.
On Wednesday, Moroccan Justice Minister Abdellatif Wahbi held a working session at the Palace of Bersemont in Madrid with Felix Bolanos, Spain’s Minister of the Presidency, Justice, and Relations with Judicial Bodies. This meeting took place on the sidelines of a high-level discussion between Morocco and Spain.
The meeting was an opportunity to finalize the memorandum of understanding, which will be signed during the joint high-level committee’s proceedings. This marks a new step in modernizing judicial cooperation between the two countries. The memorandum stipulates the establishment of secure digital platforms for exchanging judicial and non-judicial documents, along with the adoption of a special electronic system for receiving and sending requests for international judicial assistance.
The two parties also agreed to form a joint working group to study the technical, legal, and organizational aspects necessary to ensure the success of this digital transformation, focusing on three main tracks: the legal framework, organizational structure, and technological rules.
In this context, both ministers highlighted the importance of exchanging expertise in electronic judicial communication, affirming that the incorporation of technological innovation has become essential to enhance the efficiency of justice and accelerate its services, bringing them closer to litigants.
This memorandum deepens the cooperation path between Rabat and Madrid and opens the door to a more developed partnership based on mutual trust, innovation, and modernization of judicial working mechanisms between the two sides.
