A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck Bengkulu, located on the west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia, on Sunday. The U.S. Geological Survey reported that the earthquake’s epicenter was at a depth of 54 kilometers. So far, there have been no reports of casualties or property damage as a result of the earthquake. Indonesia is situated on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where multiple tectonic plates meet, leading to frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
