Justice Minister Abdalatif Wahbi has revealed that his ministry received 62 applications for Moroccan citizenship in 2025, with decisions made on 13 of these requests. He confirmed that these applications undergo meticulous scrutiny according to the applicable legal procedures.

During his presentation of the budget proposal for the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Council of the Judiciary before the Justice and Legislation Committee in the House of Representatives, Wahbi noted that the ministry relies on security research results from the General Directorate of National Security when examining these files. He emphasized the need for expedited information exchange within a three-month timeframe, in line with Article 27 of the Moroccan Citizenship Law.

Wahbi pointed out that the digitalization project for citizenship acquisition procedures has made significant progress, with the successful completion of the first phase. An electronic platform is expected to be launched, allowing citizens to submit their applications online, thereby facilitating procedures and ensuring transparency and efficiency.

Regarding the modernization of courts, Wahbi highlighted that his ministry has allocated over 109 million dirhams in 2025 for the upgrading and equipping of judicial buildings. This initiative aims to improve working conditions and enhance services offered to citizens. He specified that these funds cover 84 projects distributed among new courts and ongoing or planned works.

The minister reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to providing modern spaces that align with legal and regulatory changes. He mentioned that the total expenditure for office equipment and administrative tools acquired during the current term amounts to 71.3 million dirhams, of which 70.8 million dirhams are for judicial districts. This investment has contributed to raising the efficiency index of office management to 12,351 dirhams per employee or judge in 2024.

Wahbi also disclosed an allocation of 38 million dirhams for the purchase of vehicles and utility motorcycles to facilitate the mobility of judicial officials and ensure their duties are performed under appropriate conditions, as part of the efforts to enhance service quality and improve the efficiency of judicial facilities.
