Wahbi Represents Morocco at International Judicial Conference in Riyadh to Enhance Judicial Cooperation
Minister of Justice Abdellatif Wahbi participated in the Second International Judicial Conference organized by the Ministry of Justice of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on November 23 and 24 in the capital, Riyadh. The conference aimed to enhance cooperation and exchange experiences and national systems in the field of justice.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Justice, Morocco’s participation in this international event aligns with the commitment of participating countries to develop strategic visions and effective practices that contribute to improving judicial services and procedures, thereby ensuring efficient and effective justice for litigants.
The statement added that the conference served as an important platform to highlight issues of judicial quality, which now adhere to precise standards and efficiency indicators. Respecting these standards can facilitate judicial services that meet citizens’ aspirations and adapt to modern changes.
Over two days, eight sessions and six workshops were held to discuss means and mechanisms for establishing judicial quality at various stages of judicial work. Topics included alternative dispute resolution methods, judicial mediation, ways to enhance international judicial cooperation, as well as embracing digital transformation and the use of artificial intelligence to improve professional and procedural performance within judicial institutions.
The conference also addressed the topic of preventive justice within legislative systems, linking it to international efforts aimed at understanding the causes of crime phenomena and working towards addressing them before they occur.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for bilateral meetings between the Moroccan Minister of Justice and several of his counterparts, including the ministers of justice from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, and Sudan, to discuss prospects for enhancing judicial cooperation and exchanging expertise in various areas of justice.
The statement noted that Minister Abdellatif Wahbi attended the conference accompanied by an official delegation that included the Ministry’s Secretary-General Abd Rahim Miyada and several senior officials from the justice sector.
