The Public Prosecutor’s Office reviews tens of thousands of search warrants to protect individuals’ freedoms

The Public Prosecutor’s Office has taken steps to enhance the guarantees of personal freedom by issuing a directive to the esteemed public prosecutors on September 16, 2025, urging them to review outdated or irrelevant search warrants, whether related to the management of criminal investigations or the execution of custodial sentences and coercive measures.

In line with these instructions, various public prosecution offices across the kingdom initiated a broad campaign to review the search warrants issued by them, extending until the end of October 2025. During this process, 117,359 reports were examined, resulting in the cancellation of 70,948 search warrants. This action has been viewed by legal sources as a confirmation of the institution’s commitment to respecting rights and ensuring that individuals are not subjected to unwarranted procedures.

This operation signals a continuous shift towards modernizing judicial management mechanisms, reinforcing trust in legal institutions, and entrenching principles of justice while safeguarding individual liberties.
