The Speaker of the Israeli Knesset, Amir Ohana, sent a congratulatory message to King Mohammed VI following the issuance of the United Nations Security Council resolution recognizing Morocco’s autonomy proposal as the basis for resolving the Sahara issue.
In his message, which he signed as the first Knesset speaker to visit the Moroccan parliament, Ohana emphasized that this resolution represents an important step toward lasting peace and stability in the region. He pointed out his long-standing support for Israeli recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara since 2022, as well as his official visits and diplomatic activities aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries.
The Knesset speaker noted that his office in Jerusalem was the first official office to display a map reflecting Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara, symbolizing the friendship and respect between Morocco and Israel. He affirmed that recent developments reflect increasing international support for Morocco’s legitimate position and enhance the depth of partnership between the two nations.
Ohana concluded his message with the hope that this resolution would contribute to achieving lasting peace and prosperity for the King, the royal family, and the Moroccan people.
