The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations takes down an international network and seizes 16 tons of hashish.
Rabat – The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations, based on precise information provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, has dealt a significant blow to a criminal network involved in international drug trafficking and smuggling. This network had transformed the beaches near Casablanca into a secret launch platform for drug shipments abroad using rubber boats.
The operation, carried out on Tuesday, resulted in the arrest of eight individuals, including two women, aged between 32 and 60, in both Kenitra and Casablanca. Subsequently, security teams undertook meticulous search operations, leading to the confiscation of 390 bundles of hashish, weighing a total of approximately 16 tons, along with nearly 2.5 million dirhams in cash, six rubber boats, eight engines, four barrels of fuel, as well as phones, GPS devices, and air pumps.
This operation falls within the ongoing efforts to combat organized crime networks attempting to exploit Moroccan coastlines for smuggling to Europe. The arrested individuals have been placed under police custody under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, with further investigations underway to uncover other involved parties and potential extensions of this network within Morocco and abroad.
