Marrakech Welcomes EasyJet: A Strategic Agreement Boosting Air Connectivity

Morocco is taking a significant step to enhance its air and tourism appeal with the signing of a strategic five-year agreement between the Moroccan National Tourism Office and the European airline EasyJet. This agreement marks a pivotal moment in expanding the kingdom’s international connections, placing it at the heart of an ambitious growth plan by one of Europe’s leading low-cost carriers.

At the center of this collaboration is EasyJet’s decision to establish its first operational base outside Europe at Marrakech Menara Airport, reflecting its strong confidence in the Moroccan market. Starting with the launch of the project, three Airbus aircraft are set to be stationed at the airport, with an investment exceeding €150 million, representing a milestone in the company’s strategy, as it has not opened new bases for years.

From 2026, this agreement will support a 17% increase in air capacity to Morocco, alongside a significant expansion in EasyJet Holidays offerings, which will boost tourist inflows to various regions of the kingdom, aligning with the Moroccan National Tourism Office’s objectives to diversify markets and enhance the competitiveness of the destination.

Economically, the new base is expected to create approximately 100 direct jobs and thousands of indirect jobs in sectors related to aviation, tourism, and logistics. Each stationed aircraft is projected to generate about €30 million in added value for the local economy, underscoring the crucial role of the aviation sector in stimulating regional dynamics.

Through this partnership, the Moroccan National Tourism Office solidifies its position as a key player in developing the kingdom’s air capacities, as Morocco continues to establish itself as a promising global destination by 2030, backed by a modern and competitive connectivity network and a forward-looking strategic vision.
