Rabat officially ends the era of “Postal Stadium” with a new name

The authorities of Rabat have adopted the name “City Stadium” for the new stadium adjacent to Ibn Yassine Hall, which had been known for many years as “Postal Stadium.” Large signs bearing the new name have been installed near the modern sports facility, clearly indicating the identity that will accompany this project moving forward.

Historically, the old stadium was connected to the Postal institution, which managed it after the colonial period, serving as its official sports venue, especially with the existence of a football team named after the institution. However, this legacy changed significantly with the deep transformation of “Poste Maroc,” which has now become an economic group focusing its investments on purely commercial activities, distancing itself from the sports field that is no longer a priority.

In light of this reality, the association of the stadium with the old name seemed pointless, especially as the institution did not contribute to its renovation or maintenance. Therefore, the choice of the name “City Stadium” reflects a new direction that aligns with the modern image of the place and the spirit of Rabat today.
