Morocco Participates in the 46th Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie in Kigali Under the Theme of Women’s Empowerment

Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, is hosting the 46th Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie today, Wednesday, with delegations from around 90 countries, including Morocco. This year’s conference is held under the theme: “30 Years After the Beijing Conference… The Contribution of Women in the Francophonie Space,” and will involve two days filled with discussions and specialized workshops.

Morocco is represented at this conference by a delegation led by Nadia El Hnouni, the Director of Cultural Development at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, who is the personal representative of the Prime Minister to the International Organization of La Francophonie. The delegation also includes Morocco’s ambassador to Rwanda, Youssef El Omani, and Karima Benkirane, head of the Cultural and Civilizational Action Department at the ministry.

The event gathers ministers, diplomats, and leaders from member and observer countries of the organization, aiming to promote the shared values of La Francophonie, such as democracy, gender equality, human rights, and cultural diversity. The conference also highlights the importance of women’s leadership in governance, culture, diplomacy, peace, and sustainable development.

The first day featured a plenary session, workshops, and thematic sessions focusing on the role of women in the Francophone space, while the second day’s activities will concentrate on closed sessions for ministers and heads of delegations to prepare recommendations and envision future projects.
