Morocco and the Netherlands Strengthen Their Strategic Partnership in Renewable Energy and Green Hydrogen During COP30 Climate Conference
In the context of the 30th United Nations Climate Conference (COP30) taking place in Belém, Brazil, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, held a bilateral meeting with the Dutch Deputy Minister for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Steven Colet. The meeting emphasized the strength of the partnership between the two countries in clean energy and technological innovation.
The meeting provided an opportunity to review the key outcomes of Moroccan-Dutch cooperation, particularly in renewable energy and green hydrogen, as well as to exchange experiences and develop skills in a bid to accelerate the energy transition and ensure sustainable low-carbon development.
Morocco also presented its nationally determined contributions (NDC) in its third iteration (CDN 3.0), which has recently been updated to reflect new directions based on enhancing transparency, credibility, and effectiveness of climate policies.
Minister Benali confirmed that Morocco places international cooperation at the core of its energy strategy, which is based on reliability and the creation of shared value. She noted that renewable partnerships are a vital lever for achieving carbon neutrality goals.
Both parties praised the results of the bilateral agreement signed in 2023 in the fields of renewable energy and green hydrogen, which has facilitated enhanced technical exchanges and joint participation in global events such as the Power-to-X Summit in Marrakech and the World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam.
This collaboration comes at a time when the global energy and climate challenges are increasing, as both countries aim to combine their efforts and leverage their complementarities to build an innovative and sustainable partnership model that envisions the future of clean energy.
