Kénitra: The Public Prosecutor Reveals the False Claims of Marrying a Minor Girl and Launches an Investigation to Determine Their Source

The Attorney General at the Kénitra Appeals Court has ordered a judicial investigation following the circulation of reports on several websites and social media platforms regarding an alleged attempt to marry a 14-year-old girl to an adult man without her consent. The case was marketed as a “Fatiha marriage” on the outskirts of the city, accompanied by an image of a complaint filed by a civil society organization.

The investigation, assigned to the Judicial Police of the Royal Gendarmerie in Kénitra, has revealed that the published claims are unfounded. The girl mentioned in the complaint is not 14 years old, as alleged, but rather only 11 years old, and she lives with her family in quiet and ordinary circumstances, having never been subjected to any marriage attempt as promoted.

The Attorney General stated that the investigation is ongoing to identify the individuals responsible for spreading these false reports and disseminating them without regard for the child’s and her family’s privacy. He emphasized that those involved will face appropriate legal actions once the investigation concludes.
