Kénitra Revives Memories of the Green March and Organizes a Major March Through the City’s Streets

On Thursday, the city of Kénitra witnessed a distinguished symbolic march to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the victorious Green March. This event was initiated by the municipality of Kénitra in coordination with civil society associations, labor unions, and human rights organizations. The march coincided with King Mohammed VI’s declaration of Unity Day, celebrated every October 31, honoring national victories and Morocco’s steadfast stance in promoting its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The march began in front of the Kénitra prefecture, with participants walking through the city’s main streets towards the Kénitra municipality, waving national flags and chanting songs and slogans from the Green March. The symbolic nature of the event was highlighted by participants reenacting the breach of the separation wall in the Sahara, where they removed the Spanish flag and raised the Moroccan flag high, expressing their national identity and commitment to Morocco’s territorial unity.

The event was marked by a significant turnout from various segments of society, including local officials, community activists, and citizens of all ages, giving the occasion a broad national and social dimension. Participants chanted slogans in honor of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, reaffirming Morocco’s leading role in defending its Sahara and promoting the values of national sovereignty.

This initiative is part of a series of national events aimed at raising awareness among citizens, especially the youth, about the history and significance of the Green March, as well as enhancing a sense of belonging to the homeland and values of national unity.
