IMC 2025… Morocco Initiates International Dialogue on the Future of Mining and Strategic Minerals
Morocco is preparing to host the second edition of the International Mining Conference (IMC) 2025 from November 24 to 26 at the Beikaltres Golf Hotel in Marrakech. This event will bring together government officials, experts, investors, and industry stakeholders to discuss the challenges facing a sector undergoing profound transformations.
Organized by the Federation of Mining Industries in partnership with AME Trade Ltd, and supported by the Ministries of Energy Transition and Industry and Trade, as well as the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development, the event aims to provide an accurate diagnosis of the mining sector’s state and future outlook for strategic and critical minerals in a context of increasing global demand.
The conference agenda focuses on energy transition issues and local mineral manufacturing, featuring discussions on resource valuation mechanisms and enhancing national value chains. It includes a ministerial session overseen by the energy transition sector, alongside general sessions dedicated to sustainable value chains, mining sovereignty, and the geopolitical implications of critical minerals. Additionally, it encompasses eight thematic sessions on geomining, water management, skill development, logistics corridors, and the role of women in the sector, as well as the presentation of major projects that aim to redefine the mining industry in Morocco and Africa.
This international event provides a platform for exchanging experiences and assessing opportunities to elevate a sector showing significant dynamism at both national and continental levels.
In parallel, IMC 2025 will launch the IMC Awards for the first time, aimed at honoring outstanding initiatives and projects in categories including entrepreneurship, environmental and social responsibility, women’s leadership, mining innovation, and best scientific poster, along with the 2025 Mining Company Award—a step towards fostering a culture of innovation and responsible practices within the sector.
The Federation of Mining Industries emphasizes that this edition takes place during a time when the importance of critical minerals is rising in energy transition plans, positioning Morocco, with its geological potential and structural industrial projects, as a key regional hub in the mining and new energy sectors.
