Half a Century of Loyalty: Khouribga Tells the Story of the Green March with Pride and Belonging

Yassine Balkadi – Khouribga

The city of Khouribga embraced the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the victorious Green March, marked by an atmosphere overflowing with pride and national belonging. The event was presided over by the regional governor, Mr. Moulay Hicham Alaoui El Maghri, alongside civil and military dignitaries, elected officials, and representatives of community and media organizations. This grand national scene illustrated the deep bond between the throne and the people around established national constants.

The official ceremonies commenced with the raising of the national flag to the melody of the Moroccan anthem, performed by a band from the auxiliary forces in a symbolic display reflecting the nobility of belonging and pure national spirit. It was a moment filled with pride and dignity, where the attendees’ gazes converged on the fluttering flag, a symbol of unity, sovereignty, and a continuation of the march through generations.

Following these ceremonies, the distribution of trailers designated for watering livestock to support farmers was launched. This was accompanied by the provision of modern technical equipment to several cooperatives working in the field of local products, as part of a developmental initiative aimed at supporting rural areas and implementing the royal directives aimed at enhancing spatial justice and improving the living conditions of rural populations.

The event also served to evoke the national and historical symbolism of the Green March, viewed as an epic that restored Morocco’s territorial integrity and cemented in the nation’s conscience the spirit of sacrifice and unity. Today, this spirit is renewed under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, who continues to reinforce the constants of Moroccan diplomacy based on realism and wisdom, especially with the increasing international recognition of the autonomy initiative as a serious and realistic solution to the fabricated conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.

The occasion was also marked by the active presence of the regional governor, who ensured the monitoring of various developmental programs through a participatory approach focused on closeness to citizens and equitable opportunities among the region’s components.

The day concluded with a reception gathering various local stakeholders, infused with pride and appreciation for the glorious history of the homeland and its ongoing developmental journey. The message remained clear: Morocco is steadfastly moving forward in establishing its unity and enhancing its development, under wise leadership and with an unbreakable will from its people.
