The city of Dakhla celebrated the Green March with field visits and inaugurations led by Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid on Thursday.

Bensaid began his visit by inaugurating a documentary exhibition hosted in Dakhla, alongside the Wali of the Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab region. The exhibition features photographs, speeches, and documents chronicling this national epic, in addition to the “Through Arab Eyes” section, which highlights the transformations of the southern provinces through the lenses of Arab photographers who visited the area.

The minister also oversaw the inauguration of the regional institute of music and choreographic art, which was established by the ministry at a cost of 23 million dirhams. The institute welcomes 300 students in music and choreographic arts, aiming to enhance the cultural infrastructure of the region and support creative industries as a driver of local development.

In another part of his visit, Bensaid launched the construction of the Dakhla campsite, covering an area of 33,000 square meters, with a budget exceeding 61 million dirhams. This project represents a new generation of youth sector camps, featuring modern design and facilities that meet the expectations of participants in the national camping program, with construction expected to be completed within 18 months.

According to sources from the ministry, the visit reflects the government’s commitment to establishing equitable cultural and youth structures, making Dakhla a center for creativity and training in the southern provinces.
