Rachid Talbi Alami: The UN Security Council’s Decision on Moroccan Sahara is a Historic Victory that Strengthens Sovereignty and the Kingdom’s Development Model

Rachid Talbi Alami, Chairman of the House of Representatives, stated that Resolution No. 2797 issued by the UN Security Council regarding the Moroccan Sahara, which was approved by the council on October 31, 2025, represents a historical turning point in the course of the national issue. He highlighted the wisdom and leadership of King Mohammed VI in managing this strategic file, allowing Morocco to reinforce its historical and legal legitimacy over all its territories.

During a joint public session of the two houses of parliament on Monday, November 3, Talbi Alami praised the efforts made to enhance Morocco’s international standing, noting the sacrifices of the Royal Armed Forces in protecting the unity and security of the nation from Tangier to Lagouira. He also emphasized the major developmental projects in the southern regions, which embody the new development model led by King Mohammed VI, recognized as a benchmark in Africa in infrastructure and social and economic services.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives affirmed that the recent UN decision not only recognizes Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces but also reflects the international community’s trust in the Moroccan democratic and developmental model, based on values of peace, tolerance, and openness, as well as strong institutions that have proven capable of managing differences and building inclusive national reconciliations.

Talbi Alami pointed out that the diplomatic victory achieved at the United Nations enhances Morocco’s standing regionally and internationally, thanks to the wise royal vision that has made Moroccan diplomacy a tool for cooperation, peace, and joint development.

He called on various political components and national institutions to continue national mobilization to bolster the Kingdom’s developmental and democratic path, solidifying its position as a rising power regionally and internationally, stressing the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting royal efforts to protect major national issues.

Talbi Alami concluded his remarks by affirming that Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, is steadfastly moving towards the future in a framework of unity and national cohesion, with a firm will to safeguard its sovereignty and achieve social and territorial justice, reiterating Parliament’s commitment to fully engage in defending the foremost national cause for Moroccans.
