Akhnouch: Moroccan Industry Enters a New Phase Under the Slogan “Made in Morocco”
Rabat – On Monday, the Head of Government, Aziz Akhnouch, emphasized that the “Made in Morocco” label has today become a symbol of a new phase in the evolution of national industry and a cornerstone for establishing the Kingdom’s position as a competitive industrial destination both regionally and internationally.
During the opening of the National Industry Day organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in partnership with the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, Akhnouch explained that the transformations in the industrial sector in recent years reflect a clear royal vision that aims to make industrial sovereignty a strategic goal for Morocco.
He stated that national industry has made qualitative leaps in various fields, notably the automotive sector, which has become the leading export sector in the Kingdom, representing 40% of total industrial exports and employing a quarter of the labor force in the sector. This has positioned Morocco as the leader in Africa for the production of passenger vehicles and given it a leading role in exporting thermal vehicles to Europe.
He added that the Kingdom continues to solidify its position in the field of electric mobility by developing a production system that includes raw material extraction and battery assembly, accompanied by the launch of major projects that reflect international trust in the Moroccan industrial platform.
Regarding the aerospace industry, the Head of Government noted its rapid expansion, currently comprising over 150 stakeholders and achieving growth exceeding 60% in three years, bolstered by major projects such as the aircraft engine industrial complex in Casablanca inaugurated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Akhnouch also reported significant progress in pharmaceutical and medical industries, with the establishment of an advanced vaccine manufacturing unit and the signing of agreements aimed at developing the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients, reinforcing the Kingdom’s health sovereignty and positioning it among the prominent regional players in this field.
He highlighted that this industrial dynamism has enabled Morocco to rank twelfth globally in industrial production with medium and high technological content, according to the World Intellectual Property Organization’s classification for 2025, marking the best ranking achieved by Morocco in recent years.
The Head of Government confirmed that the government is working to enhance the competitiveness of national industry through practical programs, notably the “Industrial Projects Bank,” which has attracted over 1,900 projects with Moroccan capital, reflecting confidence in the capabilities of national expertise to build a strong and independent industry.
