Akhannouch Holds Talks with the Prime Minister of Somalia to Strengthen Cooperation and Support Partnerships between the Two Countries

Azi̇z Akhannouch, the head of government, met today in Rabat with Hamza Abdi Barre, the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, to discuss strengthening cooperation and supporting partnership between the two countries.

During the meeting, Akhannouch emphasized the special attention given by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to enhancing fraternal relations between Morocco and Somalia, as well as supporting all efforts aimed at establishing security and stability in this sister African country. He also recalled Somalia’s position in support of Morocco’s territorial integrity, particularly its vote in the Security Council on October 31 in favor of Resolution 2797, which recognized the autonomy initiative as a foundational reference for resolving the artificial conflict over Western Sahara.

In turn, the Somali Prime Minister expressed his country’s appreciation for Morocco, sending greetings from the Somali government and people to His Majesty the King. He indicated that their discussions focused on practical ways to strengthen bilateral relations and open broader horizons for mutual cooperation.

The two sides addressed the prospects for developing economic partnerships and exchanging experiences in various fields, reflecting both countries’ desire to give a new impetus to their relations that meets the aspirations of their peoples and enhances the presence of African cooperation on solid foundations.
