A retired citizen is pursuing legal action against YouTuber Hamid Mahdoui for defamation, claiming that Mahdoui has turned insults into a “working method.”
According to a complaint submitted to the public prosecutor at the Rabat Court of First Instance, the retired plaintiff accused Mahdoui of slander and disseminating false information via his channel “Badil” on YouTube. The episode in question allegedly included defamatory phrases that directly impacted the plaintiff’s reputation and personal life.
The case, as detailed in the direct summons documents, centers on a video Mahdoui aired in late December 2024 titled “A Fetus in Love.” The complainant regarded this material as laden with accusations and insinuations aimed at tarnishing his reputation. The allegations expanded in other videos, accusing Mahdoui of “fraud” and “forming a criminal gang,” in addition to publishing personal images of the complainant and linking him to official entities and lawyers without any basis.
During questioning, Mahdoui asserted that the statements made in the episode were not directed at the complainant and denied recalling the specifics of the segments referenced, although he acknowledged his responsibility as the managing editor of “Badil Info.” He also noted that the complainant had previously dedicated over sixty episodes on his channel “Moul al-Kimama” to him without taking legal action.
The complaint is based on provisions of the Press and Publishing Law that criminalize the publication of false claims or any derogatory expression, even if the name is not mentioned directly, holding the managing editor primarily responsible for the content published.
Mahdoui’s session is scheduled for July 29, 2025, at the Rabat Court of First Instance, amid growing criticism directed at him for becoming, according to some observers, the leading YouTuber specializing in defamation and making it a daily staple on his channel, keeping his name consistently tied to cases concerning reputational harm and individuals’ private lives.
