The first direct flight route between Essaouira and Seville has been launched to enhance international tourism.
Today, Saturday, the first direct flights between the Spanish city of Seville and the Moroccan city of Essaouira commenced from Essaouira-Mogador Airport, operated by the Spanish airline Vueling. This new air route is a significant step towards boosting international tourism to Essaouira, which enjoys a unique location along the Atlantic coast. The route will operate weekly, with flights scheduled every Saturday, fostering connections between the two shores of the Mediterranean.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several local officials and tourism stakeholders, along with representatives from Vueling, who celebrated the launch of this inaugural flight between the two cities. In a statement to the Maghreb Arab Press, Ridouane Khan, head of the regional tourism council, praised this achievement, highlighting its importance for the Andalusian market, which is close to the Moroccan region. He added that this route will enhance the tourism diversity in Essaouira and increase the city’s visibility on the global stage in preparation for the celebrations in 2026.
Khan also noted the significant role played by the Moroccan National Tourism Office and institutional and private partners in realizing this project. Additionally, this new route will play an essential role in the noticeable increase in air traffic and passenger flow at Essaouira-Mogador Airport, which has experienced significant growth over recent months. Through this route, Essaouira is now connected to ten international destinations, reflecting the growing interest from European tourists in this enchanting city.
