The government council approved a modification to the property division law to keep pace with urban transformations and stimulate investment.

In a legislative step aimed at responding to urban changes and enhancing investment appeal, the government council, during its meeting held today, Thursday, under the presidency of Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, approved the draft law No. 34.21 amending and supplementing Law No. 25.90 related to property divisions and housing groups.

The project was presented by Fatima Zahra Mansouri, Minister of National Land Management, Urban Planning, Housing, and City Policy, who affirmed that this legislative text comes in response to an urgent need to modernize the legal framework governing the urban planning sector. This is in line with the evolution of urban fabric and aims to improve the quality of response to the increasing demand for housing and essential services.

The minister highlighted in an official statement that this amendment is part of the major reforms underway in Morocco under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, aimed at improving citizens’ living conditions, encouraging investment, and maintaining the beauty and harmony of the urban landscape.

The aim of the draft law is to enhance the economic and social role of property divisions by supporting housing production, creating job opportunities, and providing integrated infrastructure that aligns with urban expansion. It also falls within the framework of implementing the recommendations of the national dialogue on urban planning and housing, reflecting the government’s positive interaction with relevant legislative initiatives.
