The government approves a decree specifying conditions for the operation of self-production facilities for electricity.

The government council, convened yesterday, Thursday, approved draft decree No. 2.25.100 related to determining the conditions and procedures for the establishment and operation of facilities for self-production of electricity, presented by Leila Benali, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development.

A statement from the Prime Ministry clarified that this project falls within the framework of implementing the provisions of articles 3, 4, 5, and 6 of Law No. 82.21 concerning self-production of electricity, which establishes three systems to regulate the establishment and operation of these facilities: the declaration system, the connection approval system, and the licensing system.

The decree aims to lay down a comprehensive regulatory framework for the declaration, connection, and operation systems specific to self-production facilities, by defining the declaration system for establishing and operating facilities connected to non-grid self-consumption facilities, and the declaration system for establishing and operating facilities connected or intended to be connected to the low-voltage network, in addition to defining the connection approval system, methods of operation, and conditions for revoking approval or licensing.

In a related context, the government council decided to postpone the discussion of draft decree No. 2.25.01 regarding the review conditions for the ceiling of excess production capacity for self-production of electricity facilities to a later government meeting.
