Attempt on Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa’s Life Foiled

Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa survived an assassination attempt on Tuesday evening after his convoy came under fire while moving through the coastal city of Guayaquil, authorities reported. They confirmed that the president is safe and that security forces have apprehended several suspects.

Noboa, who assumed the presidency in November 2023 as the youngest president in the country’s history, is an emerging figure in Latin America. He is the son of businessman and politician Álvaro Noboa and was educated in the United States before working in family businesses.

Noboa entered politics through the National Assembly (2021-2023) and won the early presidential elections in 2023, later being re-elected in April 2025 for a full term. Since taking office, he has prioritized combating organized crime and enhancing security, implementing campaigns against gangs and launching programs to support the economy and youth.
