Royal Air Maroc Enhances Domestic Flights to the Southern Regions: A New Breeze for Regional Connectivity

Follow-up
Royal Air Maroc continues its mission to break isolation and enhance territorial integration by launching an ambitious strategic plan to strengthen its domestic flights to the southern regions of the kingdom. By opening new direct air routes and significantly increasing the number of flights, the national airline reaffirms its pivotal role in Morocco’s economic, social, and tourism dynamics.

This program, developed in partnership with the regions of Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab, Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra, and Guelmim-Oued Noun, aligns with a comprehensive vision aimed at strengthening the connection between different areas of the country, in harmony with the royal directives advocating for balanced and inclusive development.

Hamid Ait Oujdi, CEO of Royal Air Maroc, stated: “The development of internal air connectivity, particularly from the southern regions, is fully in line with our mission. We aim to effectively connect the regions, encourage mobility, and support territorial dynamics.”

New Air Routes to Link the South with Other Regions of the Kingdom
In October 2025, two new direct routes were inaugurated:

  • Marrakech – Laayoune: Two flights weekly (Wednesday and Friday) at a fixed price of 750 dirhams, including taxes.
  • Marrakech – Dakhla: Two flights weekly (Monday and Thursday) at a price of 800 dirhams, including taxes.

At the same time, air connectivity between Rabat and both Laayoune and Dakhla has been reinforced with three flights weekly for each destination. The company is also expanding its offerings from Casablanca to Laayoune, Guelmim, and Tan-Tan, and is opening a historical new route, Casablanca – Smara, starting from November 6, 2025, marking the 50th anniversary of the Green March.

A Strategic Lever for Tourism and National Cohesion
Since 2005, the number of flights operated by Royal Air Maroc from the southern regions has increased from 6 flights weekly to 63 in 2025, equivalent to approximately one million seats annually. This is a significant leap that reflects the company’s commitment to supporting domestic tourism, boosting economic exchanges, and facilitating the movement of citizens.

This dynamism also responds to the desire to enhance the connection between the south and the major economic centers of the country, making the southern regions a gateway for welcoming international visitors via the Casablanca and Marrakech hubs.

With this ambitious plan, Royal Air Maroc reinforces its position as a key player in territorial development and reaffirms its mission to connect all regions of Morocco, without exception, by air.
