Airports in the Kingdom Welcome 23.9 Million Passengers in Eight Months
The Directorate of Financial Studies and Forecasts reported that airports in the Kingdom received 23.9 million passengers during the first eight months of 2025, marking an increase of 11.7% compared to the same period last year.
The report indicated that this rise can be attributed to a growth of 11.2% in international air traffic, alongside a 15.8% increase in domestic travel.
Geographically, this performance is largely due to the sustained growth in air traffic with Europe (+10.6%), the Middle East and Far East (+15.5%), North and South America combined (+23.2%), Africa (+9.7%), and the Maghreb countries (+10%).
Meanwhile, air cargo has seen an increase of 8.6% by the end of the first eight months of 2025.
In terms of port activity, the total volume of commercial goods traded at national ports rose by 11.6% by the end of June, following a previous increase of 15.3% during the previous year, bringing the total traffic to 130 million tons.
This increase is attributed to positive performance in transshipment (+15.5%), coastal shipping (+29.1%), exports (+10.8%), and imports (+5%).
The number of passengers traveling through ports also rose by 9.5% during the first half of 2025, surpassing 1.6 million travelers.
As for rail transport, the National Railway Office transported around 27 million passengers in the first half of 2025, representing a 3% increase, while the volume of goods transported by trains rose by 20% to reach 11 million tons.
