Dacia Sandero Leads Car Sales in Spain Thanks to Its Moroccan Production and Economic Benefits

Recent data from the automotive sector in Spain revealed that the Dacia Sandero topped the sales chart in 2025, with 28,765 units sold between January and September, making it the most popular car in the Spanish market.

According to the website El Confidencial Digital, this model from the Renault Group is primarily manufactured in Morocco, at the Tangier plant, before being exported to various European markets, which adds a special dimension to its success, considering that the car is not produced in any Spanish factory.

The source noted that the decision to assemble the Sandero in North Africa is linked to efficiency in labor and logistics costs, which directly reflects on its final price competitiveness in the market.

Observers point to a key secret behind the Dacia Sandero’s success: its perfect balance between quality and price, starting at around €13,940. Its Eco-G version, which runs on liquefied petroleum gas, offers extremely low operating costs, making it one of the most economical cars in the Spanish market.

The Eco-G version boasts operating costs of just €2.7 per 100 kilometers when running solely on gas. Additionally, it carries the ECO environmental label issued by the Spanish traffic authority, granting it several advantages, including the ability to drive in low-emission zones and discounts on tolls and parking fees, along with exemptions from certain mobility restrictions.

With its compact dimensions (4.09 meters in length) and a trunk capacity of 320 liters, the Sandero strikes a balance between ease of driving in cities and fulfilling transportation needs outside urban areas, making it a practical choice for families and daily users.

Data shows that Sandero outperformed its competitors significantly, with the MG ZS in second place with 19,251 units sold, followed by the Renault Clio with 18,075 units.

The Tangier plant produces most cars destined for the European market, while some versions are assembled at the Mioveni plant in Romania, with no production in Spain. The report concluded that this intelligent production structure enables Dacia to maintain competitive prices and meet demand efficiently, affirming that market leadership does not necessarily require local manufacturing but rather innovation in cost, quality, and sustainability.
