A recent report from the site “Numbeo,” which specializes in tracking global living costs, has listed three Moroccan cities among the top 20 most expensive cities in Africa in terms of rental prices: Casablanca, Rabat, and Marrakech. This indicates a continuing rise in housing costs nationwide.
Casablanca ranks fifth in Africa and 273rd worldwide out of 393 cities included in the ranking, maintaining its position as the most expensive city in Morocco for rentals.
The capital, Rabat, comes in eighth place in Africa and 285th globally, showing an advancement of 16 positions compared to the previous ranking, highlighting a noticeable increase in rental costs in the administrative capital.
Marrakech has also climbed the index, moving up nine places to reach 343rd globally and 17th in Africa, driven by the rising demand for tourist accommodations and short-term rental properties.
Numbeo bases its rankings on direct data provided by users regarding rental prices and the costs of essential goods and services, allowing for a realistic assessment of living expenses in various cities worldwide.
