Mohamed Aujjar, former Minister of Justice and leader of the National Rally of Independents party, praised the peaceful youth movements occurring in several cities across Morocco, describing them as a “positive democratic exercise” that reflects the awareness of the new generation and its desire for a cleaner and more progressive Morocco. In a statement to Al Arabiya, he emphasized that the government is open to the demands of the streets and will respond practically through the upcoming budget bill.

Aujjar noted that the current protests fall within the normal framework, considering Morocco’s history with the right to demonstrate. He stressed that the notable aspect of this phase is the emergence of younger generations, previously seen as politically apathetic, who are now actively present and expressing their aspirations freely. He added that state institutions are monitoring these movements and underscored that the government, led by Aziz Akhannouch, welcomes dialogue and is ready to incorporate citizens’ demands into its future policies.

Aujjar expressed regret over some protests that turned violent, asserting that the youth are innocent of the transgressions caused by “deviant elements.” He mentioned that the management of certain demonstrations was marked by confusion, while simultaneously calling for respect for the law and support for peaceful expression.

He concluded by highlighting the importance of the upcoming phase, especially in a parliamentary election year that offers citizens, particularly the youth, the opportunity to express their preferences through the ballot box, noting that those who do not find themselves represented by existing parties are encouraged to establish a new political framework that reflects the ambitions of the rising generation.
