A security source confirmed on Saturday that investigations into the recent acts of violence, vandalism, and arson in various regions of the Kingdom were conducted in accordance with the law and with full integrity, firmly denying any claims of abuses or pressures on the detainees.
The source stated that all legal procedures were meticulously followed, and that the suspects enjoyed all their guaranteed rights. It pointed out that the allegations propagated by Khadija Riyadi and her associates “lack any factual basis and are based on preconceived assumptions.”
It emphasized that those who claim that some detainees were coerced into signing “depart from the law and rely on imaginations unrelated to reality,” affirming that the records of hearings are drawn up under strict guarantees, which include handwritten signatures and identification recording, with the possibility of noting down the phrase ‘refused to sign’ upon refusal.
The source also stated that criticisms regarding the severity of sentences “overlook the seriousness of the crimes and the circumstances that require stricter penalties, while disregarding the principles of individualization of punishment and legal legitimacy.” It noted that some of the accused had committed serious acts that included setting fire to vehicles and populated public facilities, targeting security forces and commercial locations with armed plans.
The source reported that 289 police officers sustained varying degrees of injuries, and 268 police vehicles suffered material losses, including six cars and motorcycles that were intentionally set ablaze.
It concluded by asserting that any legal position requires full access to the files and crimes committed, and that allegations of arresting individuals who did not participate in the events “fall within populist rumors,” pointing out that the judicial police utilized scientific, technical, biological, and digital expertise to identify the perpetrators and apprehend them according to the law.
