New Operational Base for easyJet in Marrakech Enhances Its Presence in Morocco

easyJet, one of Europe’s leading airlines, has announced an ambitious development plan in Morocco, which includes establishing a new operational base in Marrakech starting from summer 2026. This initiative is part of a strategic partnership with the Moroccan National Tourist Office and aims to strengthen the airline’s position in the Moroccan market, consolidating its status as the second-largest carrier at Marrakech Airport.

The new base will rely on three permanently stationed aircraft, marking the first of its kind for easyJet in Africa. This move represents a significant step in the airline’s strategy to expand beyond Europe. The facility is expected to create around one hundred direct jobs and thousands of indirect opportunities, positively impacting the local economy and the job market in the Marrakech region.

Additionally, the base will enable the airline to enhance its connectivity between Morocco and a greater number of European markets, including airports with limited capacity, providing travelers with more destination options. In this context, easyJet has announced the launch of four new routes to Morocco in the summer of 2026, including: Hamburg – Marrakech, Lille – Marrakech, Strasbourg – Marrakech, and Geneva – Tangier, bringing the total number of routes to the Kingdom to 46.

Beyond the new routes, several existing routes will see an increase in the frequency of flights in 2026 to meet the growing demand for Moroccan destinations. Currently, easyJet serves five Moroccan airports: Marrakech, Agadir, Rabat, Essaouira, and Tangier, reflecting its commitment to expanding its presence in the domestic market.

This initiative is part of a comprehensive development plan aimed at enhancing the airline’s strategic presence in Morocco, where the base will provide four million seats in its first year, reinforcing easyJet’s role as a key partner in the national tourism sector.

This expansion will allow the airline to widen its network to include 24 international destinations from Marrakech and to connect Tangier to Geneva through a new exclusive route, operating year-round to solidify its leadership as the second-largest airline at Marrakech Airport.

This growth continues easyJet’s journey in Morocco, which has surpassed twenty years since operations began in 2006. The airline has transported over twenty million passengers, contributing to the tourism and economic dynamics within the Kingdom and providing more travel options for both tourism and business.

In a statement, easyJet CEO, Kenton Jarvis, expressed: “I am delighted to announce this historic partnership and the establishment of an operational base in Marrakech. Morocco represents an incredibly important strategic market for us, and this project will allow us to expand our tourism and business offerings from an unprecedented number of European destinations.”
