Le Monde: Unprecedented Military Deployment in Algeria Following the Escape of General Nacer Djebali
The French newspaper “Le Monde” revealed that the capital of Algeria has been experiencing a significant security alert for several days, described as the largest of its kind in years, following the escape of Nacer Djebali, the former director of the General Directorate of Internal Security.
According to the newspaper, security units have been heavily deployed across various areas of Greater Algiers in an effort to locate the former security official, who suddenly disappeared despite being under house arrest since his dismissal last May.
Nacer Djebali, one of the most prominent figures in the Algerian intelligence service, was dismissed under mysterious circumstances before completely vanishing from sight, leading to confusion within state institutions.
“Le Monde” pointed out that this development reflects the extent of turmoil within the Algerian security power structure, especially since Djebali was privy to highly sensitive files related to internal security and regional politics.
