Donald Trump Announces Upcoming Meeting with Zelensky and Confirms Strengthening U.S. Military Presence in Poland

In a statement made on Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced his intention to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “in the coming days” to discuss developments in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. This meeting follows a previous conversation between the two leaders at the White House a month ago, amid the potential for peace talks that may also involve Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump told reporters, “I will be speaking with him soon, and I’ll know more or less what we will do.”

These comments came during a meeting with Polish President Karol Nawrocki at the White House, where the two leaders discussed bilateral security cooperation, particularly regarding the U.S. military presence in Poland, which shares a border with Russia.

Trump emphasized that “there is never any intention to withdraw troops from Poland” and expressed readiness to deploy more, noting that approximately 10,000 American soldiers are currently stationed on Polish territory, a force deemed essential by Warsaw.

For his part, the Polish president highlighted that this presence serves as a “strong signal” of the robust partnership between the two nations, pointing out that Poland is currently allocating 5% of its GDP to defense spending, one of the highest rates within NATO.
