Royal Army and Olympic Safi Continue Continental Glory and Advance to the Next Round with Confidence

In a move that reflects their readiness and great ambition, the Royal Army and Olympic Safi secured their spots in the next round of the African Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup, respectively, following two new victories in the second leg of the preliminary round, confirming their dominance in the first leg encounters.

Royal Army Confirms Dominance and Reaches the Next Round

At the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, the Royal Army continued its continental journey with confidence, renewing its victory over Gambian side Real Banjul with a score of 2-1, leveraging its initial win with a 2-0 scoreline. The players under coach Alexandre Santos entered the match with ease, despite a limited crowd due to a boycott by the fan factions.

The military team showed a balanced performance, opening the scoring through Tony Carneiro in the 18th minute, before Rida Slim increased the lead with a penalty in the 55th minute. Despite missing several opportunities to further extend their lead, the Gambian team managed to score a consolation goal through Moussa Sisay in the 79th minute.

With this victory, the Royal Army secured its place in the second round, where it will face Guinea’s Horoya Conakry, who also advanced after overturning a 1-0 loss in the first leg to win 2-0 in the return match.

Olympic Safi Shines with Five Goals and Advances Confidently

Meanwhile, in the CAF Confederation Cup, Olympic Safi continued its strong performances, this time in front of its fans at the Green March Stadium, where it delivered a stunning five-goal match against Niger’s Gendarmerie Nationale, after returning from the first leg with a precious 1-0 victory.

The “Sharks of Safi” scored through Mohamed Shamlal (two goals in the 16th and 29th minutes), Moussa Kone (35th minute), Salah Eddine Rahouli in stoppage time of the first half, and Eastern Bahri capped the goal fest in the 72nd minute.

Olympic Safi faces a tough challenge in the next round, where it will meet Tunisian side Stade Tunisien in a decisive match for a spot in the group stage. The first leg will take place on either October 18 or 19, with the return match scheduled for October 25 or 26.

With these results, Morocco’s representatives reaffirm their strong presence on the African stage, fueled by great ambitions to continue their journey toward the final stages.
