The Moroccan tourism sector recorded exceptional performance in the first half of 2025, with a 13% increase in the number of overnight stays and tourism revenue in foreign currencies reaching 67 billion dirhams, alongside a 16% rise in international tourist arrivals.

Said Tahriri, an expert in the tourism sector, stated in an interview with “Finances News Hebdo” that these positive results are attributed to the collective efforts of all stakeholders in the sector. Together, they work in harmony and cooperation under the framework of “Team Morocco” to enhance the standing of Morocco as a tourist destination.

He noted that the significant increase in international tourists is due to several key factors, including the intensive efforts made by professionals in the sector who participated in multiple international exhibitions and promoted the Moroccan destination along with its innovative new offerings in hotels, activities, and promotional packages.

Tahriri emphasized the importance of the substantial revival in international demand following the downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the increased capacity of flights and the opening of new direct routes, including low-cost and long-haul options, making travel to Morocco more accessible and appealing.

He highlighted the significant role played by the Moroccan National Tourism Office in persuading airlines to open new routes, pointing to the strong correlation between the launch of direct flights and the increase in overnight stays. The availability of direct flights enhances the ease and comfort of travel, encouraging tourists to extend their stay.

He explained that this economic success in tourism positively impacts the national economy as a whole, by bolstering foreign currency reserves, contributing to GDP, creating job opportunities, and stimulating various sectors linked to tourism, such as air transport, hospitality, restaurants, leisure, construction, and more.

Said Tahriri asserted that tourism has transcended the status of a mere economic activity and has become a strategic focus pursued by all in Morocco to drive development and prosperity.

He added that receiving 11.6 million tourists during the first seven months of 2025, in addition to the millions expected to arrive, presents a unique opportunity to highlight Morocco as an innovative and attractive tourist destination, combining authentic hospitality with continuous progress, making it a country worthy of investment.
