The Fes Prefectural Council approves the 2026 budget, focusing on education and digital transformation
The Fes Prefectural Council, during its regular session in September chaired by Hassan El Tazi Shellal, approved the draft budget for the fiscal year 2026, amounting to 31.12 million dirhams, reflecting a slight increase of 0.3% compared to 2025. The budget is balanced between revenues and expenditures, relying heavily on the state’s share of the value-added tax (65% of resources), while the wage bill constitutes 52% of operational expenses.
The meeting featured the approval of a series of agreements with a social and educational focus, including the allocation of 450,000 dirhams to support programs aimed at combating school dropouts in rural areas. This support will be directed toward three associations involved in transportation and school accommodation in Ouled Tayeb, Sidi Harazem, and Ain Baida.
Moreover, an amount of 400,000 dirhams has been allocated to strengthen the capacities of local associations, in partnership with the National Assistance and the Youth Initiatives Support Fund, to enhance the associative fabric and improve services provided to citizens.
In the realm of digital transformation, the council approved a framework agreement with the DIGIX Association aimed at supporting the digitization of the prefectural administration by streamlining procedures and enhancing human resources’ digital competencies.
The session concluded with a presentation of the report on the progress of the prefectural development program, reaffirming the council’s commitment to innovation and aligning with the expectations of the local population.
