Shocked by a horrific crime, the city of Skhirat was left reeling last weekend after a 9-year-old boy was murdered by his uncle, a man in his forties who has a disability and uses a prosthetic leg.

According to available information, the perpetrator went with his mother to his sister’s house to demand the repayment of 100,000 dirhams that her husband had previously lent her. He is currently in prison due to a case of fraud and forgery related to transport permits. His sister explained that she could not pay the amount until her husband was released, which angered the accused.

In a moment of rising tension, the suspect barged into his sister’s son’s room and choked him before delivering a fatal stab wound to the abdomen, resulting in his immediate death. The incident prompted a security alert, and the Royal Gendarmerie intervened, managing to apprehend the perpetrator, who was placed in custody by order of the public prosecutor.

The family confirmed that the accused had previously been in a car accident that led to the amputation of his leg, for which he received financial compensation—a portion of which was the cause of the financial dispute with his sister’s husband. The boy’s body has been transferred to the morgue for autopsy, while the suspect undergoes preliminary questioning after confessing to the charges against him. Meanwhile, the victim’s family is experiencing profound shock and sorrow.
