The Court of First Instance in Ain Sebaa, Casablanca, sentenced human rights activist and blogger Saida Alami to three years in prison and a fine of 20,000 dirhams on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. She was convicted on charges related to insulting an organized body, contempt of court, and spreading false allegations.

This ruling reflects the judiciary’s commitment to uphold its dignity and protect the reputation of its institutions from any disrespect or threats to their credibility, embodying the spirit of justice that balances freedom of expression with respect for the law.

The defendant was arrested on July 1, 2025, in Casablanca, and brought before the public prosecutor at the same court on July 3 of this year, where she was indicted while in custody.

It is worth noting that Saida Alami had previously benefited from a royal pardon on July 29, 2024, in a similar case. However, her return to repeat the alleged offenses compelled the court to enforce the law firmly, affirming the sovereignty of justice and the independence of the judiciary.
