Paraguay Supports Morocco’s Sovereignty over Western Sahara and Plans to Open Consulate in Southern Regions
Paraguay’s Foreign Minister, Rubén Ramírez Lezcano, confirmed on Monday in New York that his country recognizes Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara, announcing plans to open a consulate in the southern regions of the Kingdom.
This stance was conveyed during a meeting with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The Paraguayan diplomat revealed that an official visit by President Santiago Peña Palacios to Morocco is anticipated, affirming that he will visit the Kingdom before the end of the current year.
The discussions provided a platform to explore potential cooperation between Rabat and Asunción, as well as to exchange views on international and regional issues relevant to both countries.
