National Security: Traffic Accident Report

During the week from August 25 to August 31, authorities recorded a traffic accident in urban areas resulting in the deaths of 24 people and injuring 2,813 others, including 123 serious injuries.

The General Directorate of National Security attributed the main causes of these accidents, in order of priority, to driver inattention, failure to respect right of way, excessive speed, pedestrian negligence, insufficient safe distance, loss of vehicle control, changing direction without signaling or in unauthorized areas, ignoring stop signs, driving in prohibited directions or on the left side of the road, disregarding red lights, driving under the influence of alcohol, and improper overtaking.

Regarding monitoring and traffic enforcement operations, security services registered 45,775 violations and prepared 6,144 reports submitted to the Public Prosecution, while 39,631 fines were collected, amounting to a total of 8,623,550 dirhams. Additionally, the number of seized vehicles reached 4,811, and 6,144 documents were confiscated, with 400 vehicles being detained during this period.
