Morocco Receives Recognition from the International Civil Aviation Organization for Significant Progress in Civil Aviation

Morocco has received a certificate of recognition from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in acknowledgment of its remarkable advancements in the field of civil aviation. The certificate was awarded during the 42nd Assembly of the organization, presented by ICAO Council President Salvatore Sciacchitano to Minister of Transport and Logistics Abdelhamid Kaïouh, in honor of the Kingdom’s commitment to enhancing aviation safety and adherence to international standards.

This milestone follows a series of audits and field missions conducted by the organization in 2023 and 2024 across various sectors, including air safety, air navigation, and airport certification. These evaluations confirmed Morocco’s efforts to implement recommended practices and standards (SARP) and to bolster its monitoring system and ensure safety.

In Montreal, Moroccan delegations, led by Minister Kaïouh, emphasized the Kingdom’s desire to play a constructive role internationally by seeking membership in the ICAO Council, as well as scheduling bilateral meetings with other countries and organizations to foster technical and operational cooperation in the aviation sector.

These initiatives are part of a broader national strategy that focuses on sustainable, safe, and compliant development with global standards, aiming to position Morocco as a regional reference in civil aviation. This is seen as a pivotal step in modernizing governance and regulation of air transport within the Kingdom.
