Morocco Elected as a Member of the Board of Directors and Postal Investment Council of the Universal Postal Union

Morocco was elected today, Thursday, in Dubai, as a member of the Board of Directors of the Universal Postal Union, securing 125 votes. It was also re-elected as a member of the Postal Investment Council with 129 votes for the period extending from January 2026 to December 2029.

Alongside Morocco, three other Arab countries were elected to the Board of Directors: Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt, while the membership of the Postal Investment Council included six other Arab countries. Morocco’s delegation was led by the Consul General in Dubai, Saad Bendourou, and included officials from the Moroccan Post Group and Barid Bank.

Amin Benjelloun Touwimi, the Director General of the Moroccan Post Group, confirmed that this election reflects the Kingdom’s status in developing international postal cooperation and confidence in its competencies. He reiterated the group’s commitment to continue modernizing, diversifying, and digitizing postal services and to contribute to the implementation of the decisions made at the Dubai conference.

It is noteworthy that the Board of Directors, comprised of 41 countries, is responsible for monitoring the Union’s activities between conferences and establishing organizational strategies, while the Postal Investment Council, composed of 48 members, focuses on developing the global postal system and coordinating financial and postal agreements and services.
