Morocco and Rwanda Sign Agreement to Enhance Air Transport Services in Montreal

Morocco and Rwanda signed a bilateral agreement on air transport services on the sidelines of the 42nd session of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) General Assembly in Montreal, aimed at developing cooperation and exchanging expertise in civil aviation.

The signing ceremony took place at the organization’s headquarters, attended by Morocco’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdel Samad Guioh, Rwanda’s Ambassador to Canada, Highiro Prosper, and Morocco’s Ambassador in Ottawa, Syria Othmani.

The agreement aims to enhance partnerships in international air transport and intensify coordination between the two countries within regional and international forums, ensuring adherence to the highest safety and security standards in aviation.

In a press statement, Guioh confirmed that Royal Air Maroc operates flights to approximately 27 African countries, averaging 600 flights weekly. He noted that this step aligns with the royal strategy aimed at making Morocco a regional hub linking Africa to the world. He further stated that the Kingdom seeks to double the number of passengers from 40 to 80 million by 2030.

For his part, the Rwandan ambassador welcomed the agreement, highlighting it as a new opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation and develop the aviation sector in both countries, reflecting the strength of relations between Rabat and Kigali.

Morocco’s participation in this session of the International Civil Aviation Organization, which will continue until October 3, embodies the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting sustainable development and ensuring civil aviation safety and security, alongside its dedication to strengthening international cooperation in this strategically evolving sector.
