Morocco is Among the Most Effective Countries in Peacekeeping According to the Global Justice Index

The Global Justice Index for 2024, issued by the Institute of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences at Fudan University in Shanghai, highlights Morocco’s status in international peacekeeping, ranking it 18th out of 198 countries assessed.

This advanced ranking is attributed to Morocco’s ongoing participation in UN missions in various conflict zones, particularly in Africa, through its contributions to peacekeeping forces in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), Mali (MINUSMA), the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), and the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

With this ranking, Morocco stands out among African countries in this field, alongside Rwanda, which is in sixth place, Egypt in eighth, and Ghana in tenth.

Globally, China leads the rankings, followed by the United States and Bangladesh. The top ten also includes countries like India, Nepal, and Pakistan, thanks to the size of their field forces.

The index relies on ten core dimensions to measure countries’ contributions to global justice, including climate, peacekeeping, humanitarian aid, poverty reduction, education and health, protection of women and children, counterterrorism, and support for refugees, providing a comprehensive view of each country’s role in promoting international stability.
