Idris El Yazmi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Justice and Development Party, acknowledged that the allure of Moroccan football is primarily focused in the cities of Casablanca and Fes, during his speech at the general session of the 11th National Youth Forum of the “Lamp” party.
El Yazmi pointed out that the clubs Wydad and Raja of Casablanca, along with Fes’s Mouloudia, are the ones creating true excitement in the championship matches, emphasizing: “Let’s forget about Instagram highlights; it’s the fans of Raja, Wydad, and MAS who bring the celebration to the stands.”
He added, “If you want to see a massive and impressive choreographed display, you know where to find it and where to enjoy it,” referring to the large, supportive crowds of these teams.
El Yazmi’s remarks sparked a wave of criticism among fans of other clubs, who viewed his comments as a political attempt to capitalize on the popularity of the ultras and Moroccan youth in general.
