Crown Prince Moulay Hassan inaugurated the 16th edition of the Horse Exhibition in El Jadida and launched international events for horses today, Monday, at the Mohammed VI Convention Center, which runs until October 5 under the theme “Caring for Horses: A Connection Between Equestrian Practices.”
Upon his arrival, he was welcomed by Moulay Abdallah Alaoui, President of the Horse Exhibition Association, before he reviewed a formation from the Royal Guard. The Crown Prince greeted several dignitaries, including the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Ahmed Bouari, the Governor of the Casablanca-Settat region, Mohamed Mehidiya, the President of the Regional Council, Abdel Latif Mazouz, and the Governor of El Jadida, Mohamed Atfawi, along with local officials and members of the exhibition’s board and representatives of its supporters.
Numerous ambassadors and diplomats were also present, among them Najm al-Din Bilal Erdogan, President of the International Traditional Sports Federation; Saeed Ahmad Al-Dhaheri, Ambassador of the UAE; Mustafa Elker Kilic, Ambassador of Turkey; Sami bin Abdullah bin Othman Al-Saleh, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia; and Abdul Rahman Saleh Al-Attiyah from Qatar, as well as officials from the UAE Arabian Horse Association and the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority.
During his visit, the Crown Prince explored various spaces of the exhibition, including the supporter area, the international village, the breeders’ village, the artisans’ house, the art and culture village, and a dedicated area for children to discover Moroccan equestrian heritage. He also attended equestrian shows in the main arena and the Fantasia performances presented by 18 troupes representing different regions of the kingdom, concluding his visit with a commemorative photo with the troupe leaders.
The Horse Exhibition in El Jadida serves as a central platform for exchange among those interested in the horse breeding sector in Morocco, highlighting the role of horses in sports, culture, and celebrations, while reflecting their significance in the national historical and cultural identity.
This 16th edition includes various competitions and distinguished performances, such as the Arab-Berber Horse Champions Cup, the Morocco Cup for Breeders of Purebred Arabian Horses, the Grand Prize of His Majesty King Mohammed VI for Show Jumping, and the Grand Prize for Fantasia, alongside the organization of the first international beauty contest for Purebred Arabian horses in the “Title Show” category.
This year’s edition also features diverse cultural, scientific, and recreational programs, ranging from seminars and workshops to youth activities, aimed at highlighting the importance of the horse and equestrian heritage in the kingdom.
