Under royal instructions, Morocco and India sign a defense memorandum of understanding

In compliance with high royal directives, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration, Abdellatif Loudiyi, welcomed Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh today at the administration’s headquarters, accompanied by a high-level delegation on a working visit to the Kingdom.

The visit witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding in the defense sector, in the presence of General Inspector of the Royal Armed Forces, General Mohamed Berrid, and General Mohamed Harmou, Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie.

The memorandum focuses on cooperation in training and education, cybersecurity and defense, defense manufacturing, military health, and the exchange of expertise and experiences. It also establishes a joint mechanism to monitor and coordinate cooperation activities.

During the meeting, the ministers reviewed the historic friendship between Morocco and India, which has entered a new phase since His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s visit to India in 2015 and his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Both officials exchanged views on bilateral and regional issues and ways to enhance cooperation in defense manufacturing, emphasizing the South-South cooperation initiatives and regional integration launched by the King. They affirmed the importance of strategic partnerships between the two countries to support the development of Morocco, India, and African nations.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthen future defense relations by activating the signed memorandum of understanding, reflecting mutual trust and respect between Morocco and India.
