Bangladesh Strengthens Its Agricultural Security by Importing Fertilizers from Morocco in New Agreements with OCP Group

Bangladesh has decided to import significant quantities of fertilizers from Morocco in preparation for the upcoming agricultural season. This decision was made under international agreements announced during the meeting of the Bangladeshi “Advisory Council Committee” held on September 9.

The Bangladeshi Ministry of Agriculture has contracted with the OCP Group, a global leader in fertilizer production and export, to supply two shipments of essential materials used in fertilizer production. The first deal involves the import of 30,000 tons of Triple Super Phosphate (TSP), while the second deal concerns the supply of 40,000 tons of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP), which is one of OCP’s strategic products that distinguishes it globally.

This move is part of Bangladesh’s efforts to secure its fertilizer needs and avoid potential disruptions in supply chains, against the backdrop of increasing domestic demand for agricultural products and rising local production costs.

This collaboration reflects Morocco’s growing role, through OCP, in supporting the agricultural policies of developing countries by providing sustainable, high-quality solutions. The group has managed to expand its international presence in recent years, thanks to its strategy focused on food security and sustainable agricultural development.

This agreement is seen as part of a series of strategic partnerships linking OCP with several African and Asian nations, aimed at enhancing food security and facilitating access to efficient agricultural inputs that align with the climatic and economic transformations facing agricultural systems globally.
